Fellow composers Michael Oberhauser, Roc Lee, and I presented a free recital of new chamber and vocal music, in the parlor of the trendy B&B Artists Inn Residence. A huge thank you to our fantastic performers, and audience!

Still hard at work completing my chamber opera Oblivion. Still remaining: 1 quartet and some recit.

Was quoted in this MinnesotaPlaylist.com article on composing music for theater, written by my good friend and fellow composer Candace Bilyk.

Presented a live demonstration of my Moog Etherwave theremin at the New Music Salon, presented by our local chapter of the Society of Composers, Inc. It was interesting, engaging, and horribly out of tune!

Created a new Sound Design page with a work history and sample audio cues. I very much enjoy this offshoot of my career, which involves creating live and electronic music/sounds for straight plays.

03/05/10
Had a performance of my art song in memoriam Hibakusha at the 2010 SCI Student National Conference in Huntington, WV. This work is meant to honor the victims of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.

Ended my daily haiku series, after 121 entries, in favor of completing my opera in time! (Click to read them all.)

S.Q. Daily: A Composer's Listening Journal was my public self-introduction into the world of the string quartet. I've gotten a lot of composing ideas and some decent music reviews out of it. Check it out.

Finished Generations, a five-minute string orchestra work honoring Charles Darwin, who turned 200 this past February 12th. Click to find the score and MIDI mock-up on my blog. You can also visit more of my projects.

Got a theremin (the Etherwave Standard from Moog) for Christmas, and finally completed enough composition projects in late February to reward myself by taking it out of the box.  As an introduction, I highly recommend checking Youtube to see it in both classical (RockmoreKavinaGrillo) and popular (George) contexts.  These are the four best thereminists I've ever heard.

The theremin is one of the earliest electronic instruments and the only one I know that's played without touching it.  The theremin is notoriously difficult to play in tune, but I'm up to the challenge of at least becoming proficient!  Any composers out there want to write me a concerto?  Or maybe just some etudes?
